A private cloud storage platform for the Archdiocese of Miami
The Archdiocese needed one secure place where administrators could share documents with staff across the organisation, and control exactly who sees what. We built it from scratch, and it has been in daily use since 2018.

The situation
Information was scattered. Staff across a large religious organisation needed access to documents, calendars and announcements, while administrators needed fine control over who could see which files: human resources, finance, pastoral offices and parishes all had different needs.
Off-the-shelf tools either did too little, or required every member of staff to learn something new before they could find a file. What they really needed was a private cloud storage platform with permissions that matched how the organisation is actually structured.
What we built
- A document library with folders and sub-folders that administrators create and manage themselves
- Advanced user permissions: administrators grant each user access to specific folders and even individual documents
- User management, so adding and removing staff never requires a developer
- An events calendar for organisation-wide scheduling
- A news section for internal announcements
- A responsive interface that works on desktop and mobile, so staff can find a document from anywhere
The stack: A LAMP application built from scratch: Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP.
Where it stands
Built once and in continuous daily use since 2018. The permissions model has scaled from a handful of departments to dozens of folders across the organisation without needing to be rebuilt.

What this is an example of
Custom development for organisations that have outgrown shared drives but do not want enterprise software, and need permissions that reflect how they are really organised.
